I am in shock right now, all 7 of the kids are asleep in their OWN beds right now! This has never happened before……..Ever!
It's nothing out of the ordinary for my oldest 3, they always sleep in their own beds. As for the other four, my 6 year old just started sleeping in his own bed within this past year. My 3 and 2 year old's end up in our bed every night. Some nights they start out there, other nights they fall asleep on the couch and make their way to our bed sometime during the night. My 6 month old has been sleeping in his crib since he was about 2 months old (he's been sleeping all night since before then). He nurses to sleep every night and then I lay him down in bed asleep. But tonight he decided it would be fun to fight sleep and continually claw me, and well after about an hour of that I was getting aggravated (and it was painful) so I put him in his crib so I could have a few minutes, fully expecting that he would get mad, but I never heard a peep through the baby monitor. I peeked in on him and he was asleep! I haven't had an infant to that since…………..well since my 11 year old was an infant lol.
What's most exciting though, is my 3 and 2 year old's are asleep in their beds for the first time! I've talked to Ashlyn before about sleeping in her big girl bed and she always says "It's too dark in there". So today I took her to the store and told her she could pick out her own special night light, but she would Have to sleep in her room. She was so excited when she found a Tinkerbell one! Or as she says ~ "Tinkybell"
She did get out of her bed a few times, pulling the ever so famous "I'm Thirsty" trick, but she returned back to her bed each time with no problem and eventually fell asleep.
My 2 year old fell asleep next to Daddy on the couch and I then moved him to his bed. I would love for him to start going into his bed to fall asleep there, but we'll take that one step at a time. He's the type that if he doesn't want to do something, he will scream the loudest, highest pitch scream you've ever heard. And it's totally not worth him waking up 6 other kids in the house. Which is exactly why for the past several months we've let him sleep wherever he's fallen asleep at.
I'm sure that the 2 and 3 year old's will end up in our bed before morning, but that's ok – I'm just proud that they're actually in their beds for now
